Lead Electrical Engineer Verified today

Albedo Space · Broomfield, CO · Electronics · first seen 2026-07-23

The Role

You are the technical lead for power and analog electrical engineering on avionics and spacecraft-power programs. You own electrical architecture across programs: EPS, bus regulation, battery management, isolated supplies, analog signal chains, and board- and box-level electrical design. You set EE technical direction alongside engineering management and drive the next generation of what electronics can do.

You lead through architecture, design review, and mentoring. Day-to-day design work is delegated to other engineers, but you stay hands-on taking the hard and high-stakes design work yourself.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • BSEE required (MSEE preferred)
  • Extensive end-to-end hardware design: multiple designs from concept through production
  • Deep power and analog expertise: DC/DC converters (buck, boost, flyback), battery management, bus regulation, isolated supplies, analog signal-chain and mixed-signal design; first-principles thermal, transient, and efficiency analysis
  • High-voltage DC power design including isolation, protection, creepage and clearance
  • Solid grasp of digital architecture to partner on electrical interfaces and mixed-signal boundaries to FPGA, avionics and flight software
  • Hands-on schematic capture and PCB layout on complex multi-layer designs; working command of signal integrity, power integrity, controlled impedance, return paths, stackup and decoupling; judgment to review others' designs
  • EMI/EMC understanding: design for electromagnetic compatibility, grounding, shielding, filtering, control of conducted and radiated emissions
  • Strong lab and hands-on skills: power measurement, standard bench instruments, board bring-up and debug
  • Track record setting technical direction and mentoring engineers
  • Enforce EE design-review discipline: hold designs to standard and gate reviews before release
  • Working understanding of space environment and radiation effects on ICs (TID and single-event effects including SEU, SEL, SET); how this drives part selection, derating and design margin
  • Experience flying COTS parts in space: using commercial parts in radiation environment safely through rad-tolerance by design, upscreening, lot testing and architecture-level mitigation; knowing when rad-hard parts are genuinely required
  • Space and avionics rigor: parts derating, stress analysis, reliability, design margin for flight electronics
  • Cross-functional work with FPGA, avionics, flight software, mechanical, thermal and systems teams
  • Support proposals when needed: EE and power architecture concepts, power budgets, compliance-matrix input, rough BOM and cost for new-business responses
  • Push-the-envelope mindset: always seeking new, cheaper, faster, more-reliable ways to build capability at fraction of cost
  • On-site in Broomfield, CO

Nice to Have

  • Motor-control power stages (brushless-motor drive electronics)
  • Altium experience
  • MSEE
  • Python for test automation and analysis tooling
  • Automated parts-stress and derating tooling
  • Experience using AI tools in daily engineering work: LLM assistants for design, review, analysis and documentation

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $190,000 - $220,000 per year

  • Employee-friendly equity compensation
  • 4% direct matching 401k
  • Health insurance: 100% employee coverage, 75% dependent coverage
  • Parental leave and childcare coverage
  • Flexible vacation and sick time from day one
  • 12 company holidays
  • $100 monthly wellness benefit
  • Relocation package if not based in Denver
