The Role

As Radiation Test Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing and testing candidate electronics for Astranis spacecraft. This position requires hands-on experience validating parts for radiation environments specific to aerospace.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support design of fault-tolerant electrical systems for radiation environments
  • Simulate and model GTO and GEO radiation environments on PCBA designs
  • Coordinate and run radiation testing campaigns to upscreen components
  • Develop fault-tolerant systems and operations into the spacecraft by working closely with the electrical team
  • Support electrical design, bringup, and test activities
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent technical field
  • Experience with electrical design
  • Experience designing and testing for radiation effects
  • Experience testing analog and digital circuits
  • Experience with fault-tolerant high-reliability systems
  • Passion for hardware development in fast-paced environments
  • US Citizenship or Green Card required (ITAR compliance)

Bonus Skills

  • Experience developing electrical designs in space or high-radiation environments
  • Knowledge of Geostationary radiation environment (TID, SEE, DDD)
  • Experience running tests at radiation labs
  • Experience designing dosimeter circuits
  • ECAD and MCAD experience (Altium, Solidworks)

Compensation

Base salary: $120,000 to $145,000 USD
