About constellr

constellr operates a thermal satellite constellation delivering high-accuracy land surface temperature data to governments, defence agencies, commercial players, and global institutions. Our satellites provide thermal intelligence for national security, infrastructure, agriculture, and climate resilience.

The Role

We seek a Satellite Systems Engineer with ADCS expertise to join our spacecraft engineering team in Munich (hybrid). You will own the attitude determination and control domain that underpins pointing performance, stability, and agility for our thermal infrared payload. You will act as technical interface across engineering, programme management, PA (Project Assurance), and AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test), working closely with Payload, Mission Operations, Flight Dynamics, and Data Analytics teams as well as our satellite platform provider.

System Engineering Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical point of contact between engineering and programme management
  • Coordinate AIT engineering and PA to ensure quality control and compliance with PA processes
  • Support project management with schedule planning and progress reviews with subcontractors
  • Coordinate requirement definition and flow-down from mission to system and subsystem level, managing verification and close-out
  • Oversee satellite system architecture and ensure subsystem interfaces are consistent and compatible
  • Review and approve subcontractor designs, verify compliance with technical requirements and contractual obligations, monitor milestones
  • Coordinate system-level technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, IRR, and TRR
  • Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, maintain risk register, prepare contingency plans
  • Plan and manage verification activities with AIT teams, ensure tests are conducted correctly, results accurately reported, documentation complete
  • Support LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase), in-orbit commissioning, flight operational planning, and anomaly resolution

ADCS Engineering Responsibilities

  • Translate payload imaging, calibration, pointing, slew, and stability needs into ADCS requirements, constraints, and interface inputs
  • Review ADCS design documentation, pointing budgets, analyses, test procedures, results, and verification evidence from platform supplier; identify gaps and challenge assumptions
  • Support technical exchanges and reviews with platform provider, tracking ADCS assumptions, risks, actions, and open points
  • Contribute to mission CONOPS, spacecraft mode definitions, operational constraints, commissioning plans, and operations procedures from ADCS perspective
  • Work alongside Payload, Mission Operations, and Flight Dynamics teams to align attitude modes, slew profiles, target acquisition, calibration, and imaging operations with mission performance
  • Support investigation of ADCS and pointing performance anomalies, coordinate with internal teams and platform provider

About You

You have demonstrated experience in ADCS engineering and satellite systems work. You are comfortable translating mission-level requirements into technical specifications, reviewing complex engineering documentation, and managing interfaces across multiple teams and external suppliers. You work well in a fast-scaling environment with a multidisciplinary team.
