The Role

GSE Technicians work with the Test Operations Team to build, maintain, and upgrade test stands, rocket launch sites, and fluid systems. You will perform test stand builds, site upgrades, stand verification and commissioning, test article installation, and troubleshooting across all rocket components from valves to engines to entire stages. This role is located at our rocket production facility in Briggs, TX, north of Cedar Park.

What You'll Do

• Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade test stand equipment and instrumentation.
• Participate in builds of new test stands or implementation of new systems on current stands.
• Provide operability and constructability feedback to GSE engineers during project design.
• Collaborate with test engineers to develop test procedures and document stand activity.
• Build and maintain tools, storage, and hardware to support test activities.
• Maintain clean and orderly test stand locations to deliver ready-for-flight hardware.
• Partner with engineering teams to streamline, optimize and improve testing processes.
• Assume test stand operating tasks with guidance from test engineering team.
• Operate and maintain high pressure systems, cryogenic systems, hydraulic systems, pumps, and pneumatic components.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3+ years of experience working with and troubleshooting mechanical systems, high pressure fluid/pneumatic systems, or heavy equipment.
• 3+ years of experience using power tools, hand tools, and calibrated tooling.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a test stand environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, technical, or mechanical field.
• A&P license.
• Experience in airframe structural repair.
• Experience in aviation electronics and avionics.
• Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) certification or training.
• Experience with testing process and optimization of test processes.
• Experience with hydraulic plumbing repair and fabrication.
• Experience with ground support equipment in aerospace industry.
• Experience in space exploration, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environments.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, JIRA, and photo generation/compilation.
• Experience with crane and lift operations.
• Knowledge of NPT, MS, A/N, and Swagelok fittings.
• Ability to read and understand operating system schematics and drawings.
• Communication skills for relaying data verbally and in writing.
