Isar Aerospace · Ottobrunn, Germany · Propulsion · first seen 2026-07-16

Your Role

As part of the Launch Vehicle Loads and Dynamics team, you will work and contribute across the team's broader aerodynamic, internal-fluid, and thermal analysis work. Your results feed loads definition, structural and flight dynamics as well as vehicle control and directly drive flight hardware design iterations.

  • Perform steady state and transient external aerodynamic and internal flow analyses using CFD and empirical/engineering methods across the full meshing / solution / post-processing workflow
  • Develop methodologies for assessing unsteady aerodynamic behavior (e.g. buffeting, separation, recirculation), characterizing the resulting buffet and aero-acoustic loads and delivering data for vibroacoustic, loads, and control analysis
  • Analysis of internal flow phenomena relevant to launch vehicle loads (e.g. propellant management, propellant sloshing, thermal stratification) using CFD and empirical/engineering methods
  • Support thermal coupled loads analysis of the launch vehicle and payload, maintenance of the launcher's thermal models and thermal control system design by providing analysis
  • Develop and improve tools and automation for simulation, data processing, and analysis workflows
  • Contribute to the definition of test campaigns and flight instrumentation to validate and verify analysis models and requirements

Requirements

  • Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in aerodynamics, fluid or thermal analysis in the field of aerospace or launch vehicles
  • Experience with CFD and fluid/thermal simulation tools (e.g. StarCCM+, Simcenter, Thermal Desktop/ESATAN/Thermica)
  • Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for automating pre- and post-processing workflows
  • Highly organized and proactive, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with launch vehicle aerodynamics or other unsteady aerodynamic environments (e.g. buffeting and transonic regime)
  • Experience with internal multiphase fluid dynamics on launch vehicles
  • Experience with thermal coupled load analysis of spacecrafts

Benefits

  • Employee Participation Program: Share in company success through virtual company share program
  • 30 days of vacation
  • Company pension plan with 20% employer contribution after probation period
  • Subsidised lunch
  • Fully financed Deutschlandticket for public transport
  • Sport Clubs membership (EGYM Wellpass)
  • Individual learning allowance after probation period
  • Childcare allowance for non-school-age children
