Site Reliability Engineer (Network) Verified today

Loft Orbital · Toulouse, Occitanie · Production · first seen 2026-07-22

About this role

As a Site Reliability Engineer with strong networking skills in the Cloud Infrastructure team, you will own the networks that keep Loft running: cloud networking, VPN and site-to-site connectivity, segmentation, and routing across offices, test equipment, and ground stations. You will keep them reliable, observable, and secure as the company scales.

You will work in SRE practice: define reliability in measurable terms (SLOs for connectivity and ground-station availability), instrument systems to prove it, manage the network as code, and automate away toil. You will also participate in the broader SRE team work: platform reliability, incident response, and user support.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement Loft's network architecture: cloud networking, VPN/site-to-site, segmentation, and routing across offices, ground stations, and test equipment
  • Tighten network security posture through segmentation, access control, and connectivity hardening
  • Manage networks as code: IaC provisioning, CI/CD, and GitOps
  • Define SLOs for connectivity and ground-station availability; own observability (metrics, logs, tracing) that measures them
  • Investigate and resolve reliability issues with root-cause analysis and durable fixes
  • Reduce operational toil through automation
  • Contribute to SRE team's broader reliability and incident-response work

Required qualifications

  • 4-5 years in network engineering with deep hands-on experience in routing, VPN/site-to-site, segmentation, DNS, firewalling
  • Hands-on Software-Defined Networking: comfortable managing networks programmatically and as code
  • Strong public-cloud networking experience, ideally GCP (VPCs, peering, hybrid connectivity)
  • Operating experience on Kubernetes platform (k8s, Docker) and occasional code writing
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar) and CI/CD-driven, GitOps workflow
  • SRE mindset: SLOs, observability, and reducing toil through automation
  • Ability to debug connectivity issues in complex hybrid network environments
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

  • Network certifications (CCNP or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with GitOps frameworks (ArgoCD, FluxCD)
  • Interest or experience in FinOps and cost-optimized architectures
  • Familiarity with security practices: vulnerability scanning, threat detection, risk mitigation
  • Understanding of orchestration in resource-constrained environments, like space systems

Benefits

  • Equity in the company
  • Up to 35 days of Paid Time Off (vacations and RTT) and flexible working hours
  • Health and life insurance
  • Lunch vouchers
  • Cross-office travel opportunities between San Francisco, Colorado, and Toulouse
  • Company and team off-sites and events
  • Relocation assistance to Toulouse when applicable
