Logos Space is building a Low Earth Orbit satellite system for enterprise and government connectivity. We deliver high-performance, resilient broadband to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals worldwide.

The Role

You will have technical ownership of end-to-end RF hardware design for our mmWave satellite payload and terminal systems. This includes satellite apertures and transponders, baseband processors, RF inter-satellite link payloads, and robust ground and airborne user transceivers.

You will build and lead a sizable interdisciplinary team spanning development, integration, and at-scale manufacturing of RF hardware. You own cost, schedule, and performance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead RF Payload Hardware Architecture and Design: design satellite communication payloads including frequency converters, amplifiers (SSPAs/LNAs), filters, switches, and interconnects with focus on manufacturing and production scaling.
  • Oversee Ground Terminal RF Hardware Design ensuring seamless compatibility and optimal performance with satellite payloads.
  • Define requirements for and manage integration of High Gain Antennas (HGAs) and Low Gain Antennas (LGAs) on satellite and ground segments.
  • Ensure RF hardware design effectively supports transmission and reception of spread spectrum waveforms (DSSS, FHSS, CSS), considering linearity, phase noise, bandwidth, and dynamic range.
  • Conduct detailed RF link budget analysis, cascade analysis (Noise Figure, Gain, Intercept Point), interference analysis, and modulation/demodulation performance evaluation.
  • Lead component selection, specification, and qualification of RF components and subsystems from vendors.
  • Develop and oversee RF test facilities, plans, and procedures for payload and terminal integration at unit, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Interface effectively with systems engineering, digital hardware, software, mechanical, thermal, and integration and test teams.
  • Lead generation and maintenance of technical design documentation, specifications, test reports, and review materials.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to subsystem leads and junior RF hardware engineers.
  • Manage technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support development of ground support equipment and test facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on RF/Microwave, or closely related technical field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • 10+ years professional experience in RF/microwave circuit and system design for satellite communications, radar, or similar aerospace applications.
  • Significant professional experience with team building and team/function planning.
  • Significant professional experience with operations management including cost and schedule development under dynamic conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading design and development of complex RF payloads or communication systems.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of RF/microwave components (amplifiers, mixers, filters, oscillators) and system parameters (NF, IP3, P1dB, phase noise, spurious).
  • Experience with antenna systems including high-gain (parabolic reflectors, phased arrays) and low-gain (patch, omnidirectional) antennas.
  • Proven experience with spread spectrum communication techniques and their impact on RF hardware design.
  • Experience developing and executing RF test plans and procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex RF issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience with full product life cycle.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers for high-scale production.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with space hardware development processes, including radiation effects and space qualification.
  • Experience with RF-related environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FCC, ITU) for satellite communications.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and managing technical projects.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers for space hardware.
