About the role
Planet is seeking a Senior Manager of Product for Imagery to lead the portfolio of satellite imagery products serving commercial and government customers worldwide. You will oversee a team of four Product Managers responsible for Monitoring Imagery (Owl and PlanetScope), High-Resolution Imagery (Pelican and SkySat), Tanager Hyperspectral Imagery, and Mosaics and Analysis-Ready Data Products.
This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco office.
What you'll own
- Define and drive product strategy for the imagery portfolio across four product lines
- Make strategic tradeoff decisions connecting imagery product strategy to Planet's business goals and OKRs
- Influence cross-organizational strategy with Platform, Solutions, and Constellation Services teams
- Maintain deep understanding of imagery customer needs, competitive landscape, and market trends
- Drive customer discovery and validation practices across the imagery PM team
- Lead imagery product planning cycles and partner with Engineering, GTM, TPM, and Space Systems
- Establish clear success metrics, improve product development processes, and build systems that scale
- Manage and develop four Product Managers through hiring, coaching, and performance management
- Proactively diagnose organizational issues and solve complex team challenges
- Enable the team to collect and analyze customer feedback and foster a culture of customer obsession and continuous learning
What you bring
- 6 or more years in product management with 4 or more years managing and developing Product Managers
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Track record of setting product strategy for a multi-product portfolio
- Ability to influence product strategy across teams and organizations
- Track record of delivering measurable customer and business impact
- Effective prioritization skills and ability to make hard tradeoff decisions with incomplete information
- Experience with satellite imagery, remote sensing, or geospatial products
- Understanding of how to position and differentiate products in competitive markets
- Ability to lead through influence, not just authority
- Experience partnering with Engineering, GTM, and other functions to drive outcomes
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels
- Track record of developing high-performing Product Managers
- Experience hiring, onboarding, and coaching PMs
- Commitment to building diverse, inclusive teams and culture

Compensation and benefits
US base salary range: $182,900 to $228,600 USD. This role may be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). Final salary is determined by job-related experience, skills, and location.
