Propulsion Engineer I, Combustion Devices Verified today
About the Role
As a Responsible Engineer, you will have cradle-to-grave ownership of your assigned combustion component, from initial design through manufacturing, testing, qualification, and flight. This end-to-end ownership of combustion hardware is rare in aerospace, where these responsibilities are typically distributed across multiple teams. Combustion devices are among the most thermally and structurally critical components in the engine, operating under extreme temperatures and pressures.
What You'll Do
- Own technical decisions and accountability for combustion hardware throughout the entire product lifecycle
- Coordinate across disciplines including thermal, structural, and fluids engineering
- Design and develop combustion components for manufacturability and performance
- Lead testing, qualification, and flight readiness of your assigned hardware
- Participate in future engine modifications including thrust upgrades and new cycles
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering
- Experience in development of propulsion components, combustion components, or related hardware
- Applied knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal analysis, structural analysis, and fluids
Nice to Have
- Rocket engine development or test environment experience
- Clear evidence of ownership from school or work
- Working knowledge of combustion devices, heat exchangers, ducting
- Exposure to powder bed additive manufacturing and automation techniques
Compensation
Salary range: $90,000 to $136,000 USD. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, and annual learning and development stipend.
