About the role
Sateliot is building its first internally developed satellite: a sub-200kg LEO 5G-NTN communications satellite, with a target of over 400 satellites by 2030. The AIT (Assembly, Integration and Test) team is developing streamlined processes with smart EGSE and automation. You will develop EGSE, hardware test automation and participate in the first satellite AIT activities.
What you'll do
- Own the EGSE that the AIT campaign runs on: Design, build and validate electrical ground support equipment for satellites including flight and test harnesses, breakout and interface boards, umbilical and stimulus boxes, power and monitoring benches.
- Turn manual bench work into automated, repeatable test setups: Write Python to drive lab instruments (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analysers, environmental chambers), sequence functional checks, log data and produce verification evidence.
- Debug at board, harness and system level: Perform continuity and isolation checks, decode bus traffic and chase intermittent behaviour across the satellite's electrical architecture, then close the loop with design teams.
- Execute electrical integration and verification: Perform electrical interface verification, functional and performance testing during integration and environmental campaigns (TVAC, vibration, anechoic chamber), on site and at external facilities, and produce test procedures and reports.
- Scale from one satellite to hundreds: Convert processes into tooling, procedures and test data that a production line can repeat, reducing time and human intervention per satellite.
What you bring
- 4+ years designing, building and debugging electronics end to end: schematic capture and PCB design (Altium Designer or equivalent), harness design and manufacture, connector and pinout definition, and supporting documentation.
- Strong practical debugging skills: Fast and methodical with oscilloscope, logic analyser, multimeter and bench supply. Comfortable probing live hardware, reasoning from schematics and datasheets. At ease with UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-422/485, Ethernet.
- Python for test automation: Proven experience automating laboratory equipment including instrument control (SCPI, VISA/pyVISA or equivalent), serial and Ethernet interfaces, data acquisition, logging and post-processing.
- Experience writing and running test procedures: Developed and executed verification and validation procedures for electronic hardware. Work comfortably in English with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Bonus
- Experience in space or NewSpace hardware, familiarity with ECSS standards, or participation in satellite AIT and environmental test campaigns.
- Hands-on skills in soldering, rework and crimping, ideally with IPC or ECSS workmanship standards experience or certification.
Requirements
- On-site presence at Barcelona HQ and cleanroom required; this is a hands-on hardware role that constrains remote work opportunities.
- Availability for occasional extended hours and shift work around integration milestones, environmental test campaigns and launch, and for occasional international travel to supplier and test facilities.
- Must be eligible to work and live in the EU.
