The Role
You will design, develop, debug, test, and implement embedded software for space systems. This is a 100% onsite position in Cape Canaveral, FL.
What You Will Do
- Develop software and firmware in C/C++, Embedded C, and related languages
- Work with common communication interfaces: SPI, I2C, USB, UART, CAN, GPIO
- Use version control, simulation, debugging, and development tools
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware engineers on architecture and design
- Perform board bring-up: validate power, clocks, peripherals, and boot stages
- Support testing, deployment, and firmware updates
- Debug at the register level using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and bus sniffers
- Contribute to code review and quality management systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 3 or more years of embedded software development experience
- Strong C and C++ proficiency
- Hands-on experience with microcontroller families: STM32, NXP, TI, Microchip
- Experience writing bare-metal device drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, GPIO
- Linux systems-level experience: userspace driver development, /dev, sysfs, /proc, character devices, kernel APIs
- Ability to read datasheets, reference manuals, and schematics
- Experience with Git, JIRA, DevSecOps practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Knowledge of embedded Linux development: firmware images, kernel configuration, user-space drivers
Desired Skills
- Linux kernel driver development (platform drivers, MFD, IRQ handling, DMA)
- Real-time operating systems: FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX
- FPGA development: Verilog/VHDL, HDL simulation, timing closure
- SoC experience: Xilinx Zynq, Microchip PolarFire, Intel Agilex
- Build systems for embedded Linux: Yocto, Buildroot
- Higher-speed serial interfaces: LVDS, MIPI, Ethernet
- Test harnesses and hardware qualification workflows
