Electrical Engineer (Facilities)
As a member of the critical infrastructure team, you will design, build, and activate some of the world's most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will design and build high-power electrical systems that directly contribute to new construction projects, operating with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems while managing multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and specify electrical systems in collaboration with other engineering disciplines: electrical power distribution, switch-gear and motor control centers, exterior and interior lighting, ground support system controls, UPS units, standby and emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, power monitoring hardware and software, data and phone distribution, building and site grounding, fire alarm systems, and lightning protection.
- Provide electrical engineering support to facility technicians to troubleshoot existing equipment and controllers.
- Support design, operation, and troubleshooting of facility electrical components including load flow analysis, electrical equipment evaluation, grounding, and power monitoring.
- Ensure equipment interfaces properly with mechanical and electrical systems and conforms to facility power budgets.
- Coordinate electrical installations and maintenance activities with local electrical utilities.
- Ensure all designs and installations conform to applicable codes and regulations including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, Vol 5 and 6 AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBC.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
- 1 or more years of professional experience on electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS units, and/or generators.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 3 or more years of professional experience in a similar role.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Ability to read and understand power and control schematics.
- Ability to read technical equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial pumps.
- Experience with MODBUS communication controls.
- Experience with medium voltage distribution.
- Experience with control panel design and production.
- Working knowledge of power coordination and arc flash.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
- Self-motivation and ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
Requirements
- Onsite position in Hawthorne, CA. Not remote or hybrid. Relocation required if not local.
- Occasionally requires extended hours and weekend work when needed.
Compensation
Level 1: $105,000 to $140,000 per year. Level 2: $120,000 to $170,000 per year. Actual level and salary determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
