Fabrication Technician (Fluid Systems) - Night Shift Verified today
Responsibilities
- Build, install, maintain, and troubleshoot ground support equipment (GSE) including pumps, tanks, valves, and plumbing for the LOX pad, fuel pad, and site facilities
- Operate and maintain high-pressure systems, pumps, pneumatic components, and ancillary hardware
- Fabricate and repair GSE and equipment to design specifications
- Maintain all materials and systems to Clean for Oxygen Service Standards
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and instrumentation as needed
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop and document GSE activities
- Obtain and maintain required licenses, operator permits, or certifications
- Develop process improvements to increase reliability of testing operations
- Support vehicle, launch pad, and development programs with related duties
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of professional hands-on experience with pressurized, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Aerospace industry, military, or high-reliability operating environment experience
- Ground support equipment experience in aerospace
- Mechanical aptitude and general tooling experience
- Formalized mechanical training and proficiency with hand and power tools
- Demonstrated problem-solving and quick-thinking capability
- Knowledge of vacuum, hydraulic, and pump systems
- Borescope inspection equipment experience
- Fitting knowledge (NPT, A/N, and others)
- Precision tube bending experience
- Precision measuring instruments and power/hand tool usage
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams
- Knowledge of hazardous systems: cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic, pyrophoric
- High-pressure system design and handling knowledge
Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Shift: Monday-Friday 4:30 pm to 3:00 am, plus nights and weekends as needed for critical launch milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
- Physical capability to stand, kneel, crouch, twist upper body, work in cramped positions, climb hand over hand
- Ability to work at elevated heights up to 100 feet
- Exposure to extreme outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain), fumes, odors, and noise
- Travel to other sites up to 15% of the time
