RFIC Design Engineer

SpaceX is developing Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation, delivering high-speed broadband to millions globally. We design, build, test and operate satellites, user terminals, and software systems. We need RF/analog IC engineers to develop next-generation RFICs for space and ground infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Design, simulate and model RF, analog and mixed-signal circuits and systems
  • Derive specifications for RFIC subsystems and circuits
  • Develop analog, mixed-signal, RF and microwave circuits in SiGe or CMOS processes
  • Partition functions between hardware and software with system architects, modem/DSP and ASIC engineers
  • Perform IC floor planning and layout
  • Model package and external parasitic components
  • Evaluate and characterize design prototypes
  • Characterize and analyze full radio performance
  • Assist in developing automated test lab equipment for measurements
  • Work with manufacturing engineers on production testing and qualification

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
  • 2+ years of RF integrated circuit experience

Preferred experience

  • Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering with emphasis in RF, analog or mixed-signal IC design
  • Experience with Spectre, ADS, HFSS or Momentum simulation tools
  • Circuit design and analysis of phase-locked loops, vector modulators/demodulators, oscillators, mixers, filters, low noise and power amplifiers
  • Knowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques, QPSK, APSK and QAM modulation
  • Knowledge of RF transceiver architectures
  • RF and microwave design in Ku-band, K-band and Ka-band
  • Familiarity with spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators and network analyzers
  • Experience characterizing radio performance at microwave frequencies

Additional requirements

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones

Compensation

Level 1: $125,000 to $160,000 annually. Level 2: $145,000 to $195,000 annually. Actual level and salary determined case-by-case based on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.

Benefits include long-term stock or cash awards, discretionary bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, medical, vision and dental coverage, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, 3 weeks paid vacation and 10+ paid holidays annually.

US citizenship requirement

To conform to U.S. export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
