Sr. RFIC Design Engineer
SpaceX is developing next-generation RF and analog integrated circuits for Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation serving 5M+ users. You will design RFICs that enable connectivity in space and ground infrastructures worldwide, working with systems engineers, modem designers, and ASIC teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, simulate and model RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits and systems
- Derive specifications for RFIC subsystems and circuits
- Develop analog/mixed-signal/RF/microwave circuits in SiGe or CMOS processes
- Partition functions between hardware and software with system architects and DSP engineers
- Perform IC floor planning and layout
- Model package and external parasitic components
- Evaluate and characterize design prototypes
- Characterize and analyze full radio performance
- Assist in developing automated test lab equipment for measurements
- Work with manufacturing engineers on production testing and qualification
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
- 5+ years of RF integrated circuit experience
Preferred Experience
- Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering with emphasis in RF/analog/mixed-signal IC design
- Simulation tools: Spectre, ADS, HFSS or Momentum
- Circuit design and analysis of phase-locked loops, vector modulators/demodulators, oscillators, mixers, filters, low noise amplifiers and power amplifiers
- Digital communication systems, spread spectrum, and modulation techniques (QPSK, APSK, QAM)
- RF transceiver architectures
- RF/microwave design in Ku-band, K-band and Ka-band
- Radio test equipment: spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators, network analyzers
- Characterization of radio performance at microwave frequencies
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones
Compensation
Level 3: $165,000 - $265,000 base salary. Actual level and salary determined case-by-case based on qualifications, education and experience.
