Sr. Supply Chain Planner (Launch Vehicle Electronic Systems)

You will execute supply chain strategies that directly enable SpaceX to meet ambitious production growth targets. Working in close coordination with engineering and manufacturing, you will drive effective sourcing strategies, material planning, and inventory management. Your assemblies come to life in-house, so you see the direct impact of your work every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and execute sourcing strategies with end-to-end metrics tracking for business and production success
  • Maintain accurate bill of materials (BOMs), lead times, and inventory levels to prevent piece part shortages
  • Facilitate technical discussions, make vs buy decisions, new product introductions, and should-cost modeling
  • Execute risk management analysis using past performance data, demand versus supply, and lead time stack-ups from piece part to launch vehicle integration
  • Optimize logistics, manufacturing, quality, ordering, redistribution policies, and refurbishment planning for assigned parts
  • Support supplier facility visits to identify and leverage equipment and expertise with emphasis on cost, quality, and delivery goals
  • Lead commercial and quality initiatives to improve performance with strategic suppliers
  • Serve as primary resource for engineering, supply chain, production, and build reliability stakeholders on sourcing decisions, NPI plans, logistics, and lead time optimization
  • Build cross-functional teams and champion continuous improvement to meet or exceed cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Proactively status and update SpaceX management and engineering on critical supply issues
  • Conduct design for manufacturability reviews with supplier quality and engineering teams
  • Champion value engineering projects to improve part quality and reduce cost
  • Execute preferred supplier strategy; mitigate sole-source risk and ensure supply continuity
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess and leverage supplier technical capability, equipment, capacity, and risk in procurement
  • Place purchase orders and resolve discrepancies and invoice issues

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced degree; OR bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience; OR 6+ years of experience in one or more of: engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, material cost control, or master production scheduling

  • Electronics industry experience

  • Technical ability to read drawings and blueprints; understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Technical knowledge of MS Office Suite, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Confluence, JIRA, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Detail-oriented, responsive to changing priorities
  • High ethical standards and integrity

Requirements

  • Must be able to travel up to 35% of work week, including international travel
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet major milestones
  • Position is onsite in Hawthorne, CA; remote work not considered
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorization per ITAR regulations

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary: $100,000 to $130,000 (Level 2), determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
