About the Role
Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator engineering operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms enabling routine access to the hypersonic environment.
As Mission Operations Quality Technician, you will be responsible for all inspection, auditing, and documenting related results, utilizing aerospace maintenance skills and experience. You will thrive in a high-paced environment comfortable with the design, development, and test lifecycle of rapid aerospace R&D. As Stratolaunch expands, you may be tasked to other new projects and vehicle development requiring these same skills and knowledge.
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspection and auditing of installation, testing, and maintenance of aircraft systems and components with typically zero workmanship defects, including fuel systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical/avionics systems, engine systems, and airframe structures
- Support configuration management documentation of procedures and Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Logs (MDL)
- Perform quality audits of vehicles including carrier aircraft as required to support mission operations
- Assure complete documented records of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations including inspections, repairs, Airworthiness directives, modifications, and troubleshooting
- Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems, components, and structures to identify issues or potential problems
- Assure conformance to requirements of line maintenance functions including preflight, post-flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft
- Ensure proper and timely entry of maintenance performed in Aircraft MDL
- Interpret and follow electrical schematics for installation of avionics components
- Operate ground handling equipment utilized to service aircraft when required
- Work in confined spaces or heights greater than 25 feet as required
- Communicate and partner with Engineering to solve design and installation problems, reduce defects, and improve build time
- Demonstrate ability to perform as a Subject Matter Expert applying expertise obtained through deep industry knowledge and years of experience or higher education combined with related work experience
Required Qualifications
- A&P license (required)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Detail oriented with strong attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to work independently when needed, responsible, take initiative to help train and mentor team members
- Strong understanding and discipline in FOD and tool control
- Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Willing to work a flexible work schedule
- Located in Mojave, CA; may require travel to offsite locations depending on aircraft dispatch location
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation, and maintenance, including multiple of the following: fuel systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical/avionics systems, engine systems, and airframe structures
- Experience with line maintenance functions including preflight, post-flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft
- Experience fabricating, maintaining, replacing, or modifying aircraft structure or subsystems such as sheetmetal work, bending, riveting, fasteners, treatment of metal, or changing large LRUs and subsystem components such as flight control systems, landing gear systems, and pneumatic systems
- IA license (preferred but not required)
- Flight line or flight test experience (preferred)
Education and Experience Levels
Compensation and leveling are established on a case-by-case basis:
- Level I ($31.50-$50.88): High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 2-5 years experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation
- Level II ($38.50-$61.88): High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 5-10 years experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation

Location
Mojave, CA. Mojave Air & Spaceport is located just outside Lancaster/Palmdale, 95 miles north of Los Angeles. This position may require operation of company vehicles as part of assigned duties.
