About the role
The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle for cargo delivery and eventually human spaceflight. As Senior Propulsion AIT Engineer, you will lead the industrialisation, assembly, integration and testing of the Storm and Typhoon cryogenic engines that power these missions.
Key responsibilities
Assembly and Integration
- Lead assembly and integration of cryogenic propulsion hardware including turbopumps, valves, feed systems and complete engine assemblies
- Develop detailed assembly procedures, work instructions and manufacturing documentation
- Define tooling, fixtures and ground support equipment for propulsion assembly
- Ensure assemblies comply with cleanliness, contamination control and configuration management requirements
- Prepare engine hardware for testing and support installation on test benches
Industrialisation
- Set up the engine production line in coordination with the site director and HSE
- Provide review on design for manufacturability and design for testing
- Support transition from prototype manufacturing towards serial production
Technical leadership
- Provide technical leadership during critical propulsion assembly activities
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Coordinate multidisciplinary activities across engineering, manufacturing and test teams
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's, master's or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in engine assembly, testing or closely related fields
- Hands-on experience with assembly and acceptance testing of engine components
- Exposure to manufacturing processes including machining, welding, additive manufacturing, surface treatments and inspections, and understanding of their impact on tolerances and performance
- Solid understanding of fluid dynamics
- Rigor and attention to detail
- Solution-oriented mindset with creativity to tackle complex technical challenges
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
