About the Role

Vantor is hiring a Principal Satellite Systems Engineer to join our SpaceWRX team. You will execute space projects from customer needs through design, development, and delivery of earth observation systems. Based in Westminster, CO, you will lead a small team of aerospace experts in satellite bus procurement and systems oversight.

What You Will Do

  • Lead vendor interactions for satellite bus procurement and manage design reviews and issues
  • Write and oversee execution of statements of work and bus requirements
  • Review ICDs, payload integration plans, and test plans
  • Review vendor-submitted processes, design reviews, analysis packages, and test reports against mission requirements
  • Conduct and evaluate RFI and RFP responses from satellite component vendors

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, aerospace, physics, or related field
  • 6-12 years of aerospace systems engineering experience
  • End-to-end aerospace program system engineering experience from initial architecture through assembly, integration, test, and on-orbit operations
  • Experience designing and qualifying hardware and software for low-earth orbit: structural, thermal, radiation, and EMI/EMC
  • Experience owning the design, analysis, and test of a satellite bus or whole satellite system
  • Experience writing, decomposing, and verifying requirements on a satellite program
  • Subcontractor oversight experience including environmental test oversight and test report review
  • Strong understanding of Low Earth Orbit environments (radiation, thermal, orbital mechanics) and their impacts on system performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on Earth Observation satellite programs
  • Experience as a satellite or bus lead systems engineer
  • RF systems design and analysis experience: space radios, transmitters, transceivers
  • Experience with space-based memory and mission data recorders
  • Experience with precision timing systems
  • Experience with encryption/decryption hardware or IP cores
  • Familiarity with satellite bus flight software architecture
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled edge-compute solutions in space
  • Experience integrating optical crosslink terminal solutions in space
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI level security clearance

Compensation

Base pay for this position in Colorado: $135,000 - $180,000 - $198,000 annually. Pay for other locations will vary based on geographic cost of labor. This position is incentive eligible with target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results.
