GNSS Engineer Seen this week
Xona is the navigational intelligence company bringing real-time, centimeter-level certainty to any device, anywhere on Earth. Pulsar is the world's most advanced PNT satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit, offering a future-proof global positioning system optimized for precision, power efficiency, and robust protection.
You will collaborate with navigation and software engineers to develop and certify next-generation LEO GNSS downstream applications. You will plan and conduct GNSS testing across lab and field environments, working closely with partners and early customers to shape hardware selection and test design, and to rigorously evaluate performance across varying operational conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lab Testing and Simulation: Test and verify GNSS receivers and simulators across controlled setups and representative operational scenarios. Design simulation activities and analyze results from commercial programs.
- Software Development: Support software development activities including algorithm development, test automation, and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for GNSS and Pulsar signals.
- Customer Testing and Trials: Design, plan, and execute GNSS testing in lab and real-world environments. Select receiver hardware, define test methodologies, and develop test cases that assess performance under varying conditions.
Requirements
- Minimum BS or BEng in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Geomatics, Aerospace, or related field, with relevant experience in Position, Navigation and Timing industry.
- Familiarity with GNSS receivers, GNSS Interface Control Documents (ICD), and data formats such as RINEX navigation and observation files, sp3, and NMEA.
- Experience with Python or C++ (object-oriented programming is a plus). Familiarity with Git version control and Git workflow. Some familiarity with CI/CD and Docker is advantageous.
- Familiarity with hardware simulation, RF lab testing, system-level verification testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, data processing, and field testing.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Willing to travel for customer engagement and field testing.
Desirable Experience
- Basic knowledge of GNSS signal processing chain and positioning algorithms, or experience with LEO satellite signals in navigation.
- Experience with novel GNSS simulator and receiver testing.
- Experience with GNSS RF recording tools and workflows, including generation, processing, and replay of IQ data files.
- Cryptography or Secure Communications experience.
- Software Defined Radios (SDR), GNU Radio, and Software Defined Receivers.
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working: three days per week in office in London.
- Flexible working and time-off policy.
- Health insurance.
- Supportive parental leave.
Security Requirements
This UK role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
